"WARNING: Most definitely *not* for the faint-hearted!"
Now how could I resist this kind of statement? I like gruesome and I like the idea that there's a different kind of psychopath out there. And while there were several gruesome deaths, it was the plot and character enrichment that drew me in and kept me there for the duration of the book.

The book is told by many people ... more like a series of short stories. It was a bit confusing at the start but soon became clear where I was being lead. The individual stories bounced from back then' to the present where DS Adrian Miles and DS Imogen Grey are investigating.

What ties all these deaths together? That is what keeps the reader glued to every page. Without giving away anything, by the end of the book I was rooting for the bad guy.

This does not read like a debut novel. The plot is intricate, but strong. The character development was drawn by a fine hand. Secrets and lies abound at every corner. Throw in a few corrupt cops and you have a substantial police thriller.

I highly recommend this one to anyone who likes not only police thrillers, but psychological suspense.
