This finish to the Southern Cross trilogy was pretty weak in my opinion. Dana wasn't really engaging, all the "romantic" ties were shallow, contrived and easily broken and none of the "human pathos" found in the "Macross Saga" was to be found anywhere. Advances the story and that is about it.
