This is a short look at the behind the scenes political maneuvering and negotiating leading up to the beginning of hostilities in 1939. The information is detailed and specific, and presented in an interesting and readable fashion. Particularly of note, Overy attempts to vindicate Neville Chamberlain from the stigma of being a weak, placating leader in the face of Hitler's agenda.
