French Lessons is a love story with Paris as it's star. There are three stories in the book, all centered around three Parisian French tutors and their American clients. The first story is about a young American woman who is reeling from the death of her married lover Simon. She is pregnant with his child and dealing with grief and the meaning of life. As she walks through Paris with her French tutor Nico she questions her life choices and her future. The second story focuses on a married American woman named Riley who is in Paris with her workaholic husband and two young kids. Her marriage has fallen apart and she is drawn to her French tutor, playboy Phillipe. Is it love or lust is the question. The last story is about a married American man named Jeremy who has come to Paris with his famous actress wife Dana. Jeremy finds himself attracted to his female tutor Chantal and questions whether he is fulfilled in his marriage. I thought the book was good but not great. I think the really interesting part of this novel was the French landscape. Worth a read.
