I flipped through the book I(purchased from the sale shelf at the branch library because there is a wish for it) and my rating is based on the author's forthrightness. [P.S. The gal wishing for the book cancelled the offer and thus I both wasted my quarter, carried it with me, and have to carry it to the library with the 'free' book truck to unload it. To paraphrase the title, Are All Galls Assholes?]
First sentence: "Leave it to two baggy-jeans-wearing, diamond-stud-rocking, 40-in-paper-bag-sipping dudes to change your thoughts on guys forever."
The book is based on a simple survey (n=1000) and a follow up survey, which is included the appendix, and on the Ms. Madison's journalistic experience. It is well organized into chapters with subheadings such as 'How Long After Our Date Is This Dick Going to Wait to Call Me,' 'I've Been Hooking Up with this Guy for a While, Is There Any Chance of Becoming His Girlfriend?,' 'Be the One In Control,' 'Getting Away from an Asshole,' and lastly "Avoiding Assholes Once and for All.'
Unlike many library discards, this copy circulated a lot. It is dedicated: "To all the wonderful men in my life, who restore my faith daily."
