Dear Members,

We have something fun to announce...the debut of our Book Review Contest on our Facebook page!

Share your book reviews with others, win Wish List books - what could be better? Here's how it works:

1)  Write a book review on PaperBackSwap.
2)  Share it on your Facebook timeline and tag the PaperBackSwap Facebook page
3)  You are automatically entered into the contest!

Each week, we will pick finalists from the entries. Then our members will vote on the best review and the winner will get a new book from his/her Wish List (see rules for details).

Check the FAQs for all the details,  and then take a look at your BIR List or Transaction Archive or Bookshelf for inspiration, and get reviewing!  We hope you decide to contribute - book reviews really make a positive difference in the club!

Happy reading (and reviewing),

Richard and
The PaperBackSwap Team

Carol (BookLover4Ever)

Carol's creeping up on her tenth anniversary of PaperBackSwap membership! She's sent out more than 1000 books, and has a basically perfect swapping record.

" She's so sweet! There are many reasons for this vote, but the main one is that she's a very thoughtful person:)"

"She has been my game moderator and is always helpful."

"She has such a positive outlook and it's contagious! I love the themes for her Games - for example, a recent game was to celebrate Friendship Day, Happiness Happens Day and Book Lover Day...all of them in August. What a wonderful way to make a Game meaningful."

Strong swapper, Great Gamer - Carol, you have clearly brought joy to the PaperBackSwap Community You are Member of the Month for August. Congratulations!

If you have any nominations for Member of the Month, submit them to us hereYour nomination will not "expire"--anyone you nominate will have a chance at getting Member of the Month if enough nominations accumulate over time. Tell us who's helped you in the Forums, who's been a great swapper, who in your opinion is a credit to PBS.  We are keeping a list of all the nominated members.  Who knows--one of them might be YOU!

DEAR LIBRARIAN

Dear Librarian - I'm not all that technically inclined. I don't even belong to Facebook, and I'm not sure how to participate in the Reader Review Contest?! -- Want to Play in Santa Fe

Dear Santa,

It's a Facebook contest, so you do have to have a Facebook account to be able to share a review and enter. You can still vote without a Facebook account, though! We'll announce the finalists in the Blog and Discussion Forums and Twitter (as well as on Facebook) every week, and all members can cast their votes. Since voting will be done at PaperBackSwap (not Facebook), you don't have to have a Facebook account to vote. Facebook Likes do count as extra votes, so members without Facebook accounts can't vote twice on a review, but clicking the Thumbs Up /Thumbs Down option will cast your vote from PaperBackSwap.

Depending on how this goes, we may be making other (non-Facebook) contests in future, so stay tuned!

The Last Word:

  • Are you REALLY not reading the Blog? You don't want to miss out on Free Book Friday book giveaways, author interviews, awesome book reviews and giveaways, and so much more!
  • As always, don't forget to start your Amazon shopping from the link at the top of the PBS site - when you do this, a small percentage of your purchase amount comes to us.  So whenever (and whatever) you plan to purchase on Amazon, start from the Amazon link at the top of the PBS site. It's an easy, free way to support the club!
