Thanks for considering our school for your school donation program. It is a very exciting and much needed opportunity for our students. Instilling the love of reading in our young students is so important and this donation would be amazing for our little learners!

Barger Academy is a fine arts elementary magnet school in inner city Chattanooga, Tennessee with 400 students. Barger is a public Title I school, and all of our students receive free lunch. Our mission at BAFA is to improve our students’ higher order thinking skills and to develop responsible members of society. This means that our students need to become proficient readers, and many of our students are reading below grade level. Our fabulous classroom teachers teach using a Balanced Literacy Program, which includes shared, interactive, guided and independent reading and writing. In addition, our students participate in additional interventions to help them achieve their reading goals.

Our media center is the hub of our school, and the students visit each week to check out books to read in class and at home. Having books of their own will help students to further develop their reading skills at home. There is just something special about having your very own book!

By considering Barger Academy for a book donation, you are not only supporting our students but also their families, too. Your generosity is much appreciated. Our students will be so excited to receive these books to take home to share with their siblings and parents!

Thank you again,
