This was a nice neutral book to read after an engaging book.
It was a story about a family and all their hopes and dreams.

A quick read! Finished it in 1 day. Can it work if the women is older than the man?

This is Book 5 in the Blue Heron series.

I was a little concerned when I started seeing reviews that the book was not good. If you like Sara Gruens writing, then read the book. If you are Looking for Water For Elephants part 2, then this might not be the book for you. I really like Saras other books. I like her style of writing, she reminds me of Jodi Picoult. Gruen does her homework on her subjects making the story real.
I am so glad that I did not let the reviews make me miss this book. I felt the book was different then Water for Elephants but this was not a sequel to that but a separate book and should be judged separately. The story is very slow to start but draws you in. I felt that I put my foot on the gas and did not let go and then the end was there. It was a little predictable but that comes when you read 2-3 books a week. You know that authors like to tie up ends and give you pretty packages.
There are many different characters in the book, none are really developed all the way, there is no main characters, they all share the role. You are left with some questions about the past and what the future might hold. I would have liked to see a thicker book with more developed characters.

I found the book hard to get into. It started to pick up speed about half way through. The end dragged on.

This novel is set in the time period of World War II and while most are preoccupied with the what is happening in the world there is a society that feels they are above. Three young socialites go on an adventure to prove ones father right and to return into his good graces. Being naive about their new surroundings, one bends to fit in, while the others do not dare step down from their entitled station. Being in a strange land unknown things are abound.
I really enjoy the stories by Sara Gruen. This one did not disappoint me. When I first started reading I really did not care for the characters but by the end Maddie had another friend.

I found this book very hard to get into. I did not care for the main character and by the end of the book I still did not.
As the book progressed and she researched the strange happenings in her village, the story draws you in. The writing is not great but it is very descriptive so that you can picture yourself there. By 250 pages in, I decided I had to finish. It gives you many suspects and there are lots of twists. It keeps you guessing till the end.

Highly recommend having all the books in the series before starting to read.
Calla spends the summer with her grandmother after her mother passes away unexpectedly. Living in Lily Dale she discovers that she has more in common with her grandmother than she thought.
This series is geared more to a young adult reader. I found the books interesting.

The writing is OK. I just could not get into the character. She is just a very boring person with no oomph to life. She does the same old day after day. By page 200 you have to finish the book because you want to find out what happens. You really do not have to finish the book because you can probably guess what happens and you would be right. I am not really a shoe person but I did look up the shoes she was talking about. There is no way I would pay that kind of $$$ for those shoes, they are just shoes.

The writing is great. The subject is not my cup of tea. I read her other one Alpha Wolf. I did not care for that one either though I was able to make it through the book.
I usually give books 100 pages. I put this book down at Chapter 2.
She helps to save people or cross them over, she is a descendent of a Valkyrie. From Norse mythology, a maiden of Odin who chose heroes to be slain in battle and take them to Valhalla.

This is book 18 in the Melanie Travis series
Melanie gets put in charge last minute of the School's Holiday Bazaar. What could go wrong? From the looks of it nothing. She checks in with each of the volunteers and everything is being handled. The day before the Holiday Bazaar Santa cancels his appearance. Luckily another Santa is able to step in and that is where the trouble begins.
This book was too easy to figure out. I knew who did it as soon as it happened. It took Melanie over 100 pages to figure out what was really going on.

Make sure you read her books in Order, this is number 12. She adds onto her story. If you skip a book you may miss out on some information. Many of her characters show up in next stories.
Her son is old enough and she has to make the decision whether to return to being a Vet or watch the sun rise and set daily.
The whole book was about the trails that are near her home. When she was not riding the trails she was sitting on her porch just watching the world go by. She is very descriptive of her world. A map of the area she was talking about would have helped a lot. Book keeps you guessing about who the killer is.

I have read other books by this author and this was a twist for me. It was not like the others I have read. Most of the others were about finding love. This one is about finding family. When I started reading I wanted to stop. I hated it. I always give a book a 100 pages. I still could not get through it. So I went and read reviews of the book hoping I was not wasting my time. The reviews were positive and they painted a picture of a nice summer read. So I kept on reading. Im glad I did. As you meet the different characters and their stories, you start to see truths around you and that this story is not full fiction that some of this could happen.
There are so many characters and it would be hard to describe the book and characters without giving away the story. The story takes place on Nantucket an island off of Cape Cod, MA.
Meet some of the characters:
Nan: widow, has a home on the bluffs overlooking the Beach.
Michael: Nans son, jewelry designer, works for Jordana and Jackson Jewelers
Daniel and Bee: Troubled Marriage, need a place to get away from it all
Daff and Richard: Perfect Marriage, Perfect Daughter
This book has many characters and many twists and secrets. I think the book would have flowed better if she wrote each chapter from a different character and not blended the characters thoughts into one chapter. Sometimes it was confusing who was now talking.

This is the new Series by Linda O. Johnston. I thought I would give it a try since I really like the Pet Sitter Mystery series featuring Kendra Ballantyne. I did not care for her Romance Nocturne books.
If you have read the Kendra Ballantyne mysteries then you will meet some of the same characters in this book. Meet Lauren she runs HotRescues Shelter. (If you are a KB reader you know that HotRescues is financial supported by KBs boyfriend Dante DeFrancisco.) Lauren takes any cruelty against pets to heart. She will go out of her way to help. But would she commit murder against someone who would harm a puppy?? Follow along as she tried to figure out who and why?
Laurens solving skills stink. If you are paying attention you will know who did it at the very beginning. This series is OK. Just not a Lauren fan yet. Maybe the next book will be better.

I am in the group of people that loved The Thirteenth Tale and hate Bellman & Black.
The first page reels you in and gets you in the mood for a good story, but the book flops after that. You keep reading hoping the next page will be better. By page 260, I couldn't take it anymore and skipped ahead and found the part I needed to end the story. There is no plot to this book and the ending is disappointing. The book lacked cohesive writing.
The book is all about a man's life from childhood to death.

As I was reading this book I kept thinking, is this Thelma and Louise? I finished the book and then I come on here to write a review and I see
"What if Thelma and Louise didn't have to die?"... clever, sad and sweet turn on Thelma and Louise-style rage.
Addie living the normal life, then walks in Valerie making her childhood complete. High school changes everything. Years later can their friendship be mended?
Not one of her greatest books. The writing style is there but not the story. I found the characters not likable. You could not really get into them.
The book builds up to a climatic ending, but flops at the end. It is an easy read, it is easy to put down and read days later.

It is now a few yrs later and she is with her Soul Mate. What if you knew what the future holds, Could you change it or Should you change it?
