A little book in the usual style of DK publishing, with one topic at the top then words and high quality color photographs on each page, to explain the topic. Despite what the title says, this is mainly a cookbook for barbecuing. Covers basic grilling information including the directions for a Weber style grill, using smoker, lighting it, etc. The recipes are not just meat and seafood, covers a few side dishes, flavored butters, etc. The grilling information in the book is not for the basic gas grills, it is for the Weber type grill. Very good for the beginning griller. If you are experienced and just want a ton of recipes perhaps this is not the best book for you.

This is very intersting style book because it tells the various challenges or should I just say 'problems' that parents encounter with children and then the author gives many different choices to pick from to deal with the issue. For example what to do if: child hits the baby, child runs away while in parking lot, interrupts parent while on phone, won't pick up toys, etc. This is very practical hands on tips for raising children, discipline, parenting tips, etc. Attachment parenting friendly. This is gentle discipline without inflicting physical pain or verbal shaming, but it does use limits and consequences. This author has written several books on parenting. This is not a permissive parenting book.

This is a school textbook which children use to practice reading with. Publication date is 1982/1984. Nearly 200 pages of many easy reader stories. I am not sure what the publisher means by Level 6, this is not Grade 6. It might be a 2nd grade book. One of the stories is Frog and Toad (for your comparison). This is mostly fiction, a little nonfiction and some poetry all mixed together.

This is a second grade independent reading level chapter book.
Innocent content, adventure with a little suspense. The brother and sister have a little tension with each other as siblings usually do. The language is clean, but these did teach my kids to go around saying "Oh man!" which is funny.
The kids enter a tree house that usually goes back in time or to some other geographic place, and the children are put into danger in some way, but always get out of it just fine.
There are historical facts or science or geography facts thrown in here and there, not enough to justify these are history books.
Both of my boys enjoyed this series.
The general plot line is predictable but kids still love them.
As a read aloud by the parent they get annoying after reading two or three (and they took me 25 minutes to read aloud).
This series is often the first chapter book that a child is willing to read. Some children like to read them over and over while others want to read them just once.
I recommend this series for children who are learning to read and are ready to move up to chapter books.

Typical style of the books by this publisher (Design Originals) this has a project with step by step directions on how to replicate it. There are tons of photos that contain inspiration, even if you don't replicate these exact projects.

Great book for what it is. This is an easy reader book written by a well-known excellent children's author who focuses on writing non-fiction. This book is about modern aircraft. The illustrations are high quality photographs.
I would assume the target market would be for boys learning to read who prefer non-fiction to fiction and who like aircraft.
My sons enjoyed this book when they were at this stage in their reading journey.
I also highly recommend the nonfiction, science picture books written by this author for great read-aloud's for children up through age 8.

This is an easy reader book for use for independent reading practice. The subject is real life rescue people and how they help others in emergencies. The illutrations are hand-drawn and it looks to me like colored pencils were used or else it is watercolor paint.
This book would probably appeal to boys who like non-fiction information in their easy reader books.

Picture book with alphabet letters and several animals or creatures for each letter. Illustrated with watercolor paintings of animals. A lot to look at. Creatures are labeled with their name. Animals are from all over the world. Author illustrator grew up in North Africa and England and lives in England according to the info on the book.

A simple story about autumn, featuring apple picking with the family, pumpkin picking, carving a jack-o-lantern. The last three pages feature trick or treating with the children dressed as: pirate, ghost, queen and a devil. A short story with illustrations going across both pages, bright colors, hand drawn.

This book was very helpful to me when I was pregnant. This is a rare topic. I used the information in this book to help me during my pregnancy including for use during birth and to help start off labor! The book is packed with useful information, loads of details are in the book. The topics start at preconception, then go into pregnancy, before labor, during labor, postpartum and then care of babies, too. This book tells you how to safely use essential oils.
