An interesting love story from start to finish, with tension that built right up to the final sentence. The characters and their relationship felt more real to me than most love stories I have read.

The book became more interesting as the story unfolded, but I do not plan to continue with the series.

Not as interesting as "A long way from Chicago" or "A year down yonder", and it took a while for me to get interested, but once it got going it was a very engaging story with a touching ending.

It took me a while to get into this book, but the book (and the main character) really grew on me by the end.

The main character was likable and real for me. I liked the Portland setting too, since I lived there for so many years.

An interesting, thought-provoking book that grabbed me from the start. I appreciated how the main character grew and became a better person.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (Audio CD) (Unabridged)
Review Date: 4/28/2014

The book started out sort of whimsical, even nonsensical and amusing like The Hitchhikers Guide. But after a while, the story began to take shape, and I got more interested in it.

For fantasy books, I prefer to listen to audiobooks, as I can close my eyes and visualize the scenes being described.

An intense, emotional story, but not in the way I expected. (By the end of the book, I was in tears.) I did not like the way the book started, with all of the flashbacks, but once the story moved into the present and stayed there, I became interested in the main character (Valerie) and it was hard to put the book down.

I thought it was an interesting story from the start, but I was surprised how it developed into such an emotional story too.

Riveting, intense, emotional, even inspiring in its own way. And with a meaningful ending.

While this book was intense and even scary at times, I did not find it disturbing, despite the subject matter. I saw parallels between this book and "Boy Toy", another book by Barry Lyga.

I thought that the supernatural connection worked well, with parallels that strengthened the connection, making this book a blend of historical and realistic (modern) fiction.

Reading this book was like watching a silent movie, but I did not find the subject matter all that interesting. While the book's format made it easy to visualize the scenes, it was harder to "hear" the characters' voices. (When I read a book, I can usually hear the characters talking.)

The first book of a 4-part action-packed thriller. I really liked the characters in this series and their more traditional values. The only drawback is that you need to read all four books of the series before everything is explained.

I did not get interested in this book until Part 2, but then it became fascinating.

Lips Touch: Three Times (Audio CD) (Unabridged)

I liked the third story a lot more than the first two stories; it was a well-crafted fantasy. I give the first two stories 3 stars, and the third story 4 stars.

One of the best I have read in this genre since "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. Good character development, and I felt sympathetic towards each of the characters on The List at one point or another. Dealt with some important themes, and showed how something like The List could have far-reaching effects on people's personal lives. My Young Adult reading group did not like this book as much as I did -- they complained that it was not realistic enough -- but I did not think it detracted from the book's overall impact.
