The author's clearly a master of her trade (PhD in 18th century books) but there's still a lot of historical inaccuracies here. I'm no scholar but even I recognized them.
I'd say it's good just as long as you take it for PURELY fiction.

I first read this book over 15 years ago when I was in high school. I've reread it many times since and truly enjoy it every time :)
It's a little bit boilerplate as far as fantasy goes. Britain is a good writer but not superb. If you take it for what it is- a really good young adult fantasy series -you won't be disappointed!

I've had Reading Lolita in Tehran on my list for years and figured I should try to stomach the source material.
Surprise, I can't.
It's a book about a grown man who kidnaps and rapes a child and tells you all about it. How the FUCK did this get on bestseller lists??????
I hope I never meet anyone in real life who tries to defend this book.

Better to read a book about antiracism written by a Black person. DiAngelo just regurgitates what she's picked up from BIPOC while lining her own pockets.
