Life Without Summer is heartbreaking yet has a deeply satisfying ending. As the author,Lynn Griffin, states in the essay following her story,"I've been known to let What Ifs get the better of me." I tend to do that myself . Expect tears if you plan to read this one.

This book grabbed me from the first page and kept right on rolling! You cannot help but feel for the main character, Madora, who hasn't had an easy life and ends up brainwashed by a manipulative and controlling man posing as her savior. A very interesting and well written story with some extremely tense moments to keep you on the edge of your seat!

This is why I read! I knew absolutely nothing about this time and place but was transported entirely. I loved Rachel- she became so real to me. A wonderful book, I can't say enough about how well written it is. I just put Honolulu by the same author on my wish list.

This book transported me to a place and time I could not have ever imagined! It was brutal at times, but I loved it overall. If I were actually a character in the book, I feel I would be known as "Sturdy Little Mule Woman!" I chose this book from the most traveled copies list- I am so glad I did!

This is a lovely story, a quick and easy read that is uplifting and well thought out. If you are like me and need a boost between the heavy, depressing stuff, this is it!

I really like this author! This is the second book I've read of his and (though I liked Red Leaves better) the ending totally surprised me! I have just ordered another- can't wait to see if he can keep this up! Reading this book was like watching an old black and white movie! There was one part that I thought ,"That's a little far fetched" but overall, I really enjoyed reading it- A quick and absorbing story.

This book is heart-breaking and tragic. It is also compelling and very well written.

This is a great book! It is a quick read that really comes together well and left me with an ending that I know I will continue to think about for some time. I had never read this author before and the really good news is that he has lots of other titles available- I just ordered another one, can't wait to see if it's as good!

My student LOVED this book! He is a very reluctant reader now reading the rest of this series just for fun! This is the first time I have seen him really excited about books! It is easy to read, few words per page, so I would not recommend it as a challenging book, but if you need something exciting, fast-paced and colorful to grab a young man's attention, this is it!

Here is a book for fans of Lifetime Original movies. I admit, it is a guilty pleasure of mine once in awhile if I happen to be in that mood. This book was just like that- characters doing dumb things in situations that seem unrealistic and make you wonder, " Would anyone really DO that?" At the same time fun to read- you just want to keep "watching" these crazy people!

I thought this was a very well written book. It had me thinking and wondering about certain things in between reading and I could not help but love Ritchie and Emma, his poor, lonely single mother. They were very realistic and human. I can't believe this book only had a three star rating! In my opinion, it deserves at least four stars- and it is a debut novel, can't wait to read more from her!

I loved the two historical novels by this author and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this one as well, even though it is so completely different. I guess great writing is great writing regardless of the subject matter! Hopefully, he writes many future novels in this reality- I look forward to reading more from him.

I read this book yesterday- could not stop! Even when it was over, it kept rolling around in my head. I can't comment too much about the story- don't want to give anything away- but it certainly is twisted! I agree with the other reviewer that it is not a happy book, not at all, but it was well worth reading!

I am officially a fan of Grant Jerkins! This book has creepy, shady characters and plenty of twists. The short chapters, in this and his second book, make for a quick and disturbing read. I think I liked At The End of the Road a little better, but this is not one to miss either, if you like a story that messes with your mind. I'm not sure who is more disturbed- Stephen King, Grant Jerkins, or me for enjoying this stuff so much! I loved it!

Mary Bundle- I loved reading her back ground story! I wondered all through the first book what she had come from and was thrilled to find out! Bernice Morgan writes Newfoundland home to me when I can't be there. Can't wait to read more from her.

This is one of the creepiest books I've ever read! I love this author and I think this may be her best yet! I finished reading it this morning and I cannot stop thinking about it. This one will stick with me for a long, long time!

I am just about to mail this book out and I just had to comment on it before I send it on. I found this book to be very different and wonderful! Is this just because I am from Newfoundland, or is there something really great about this book? Please PM and let me know!
