Unlike her first three novels, Our Missing Hearts, while a work of fiction, reads like a social commentary. Set in a Dystopian society after "the crisis" Ng paints us a picture of what happens when government over reach is accepted and we do not learn from the mistakes of the past. Prophetic, heartbreaking, and thought provoking, this book will remain with you long after you turn the last page.

A Prayer for Owen Meany (Audio MP3 CD) (Unabridged)
Review Date: 3/26/2024

If this is not the best book I have read (actually listened to), it is easily in the top three. The characters are unforgettable. I am not sure if I would have enjoyed it as much if I read it vs listening to it. Owen Meany's unforgettable voice is central to the books plot. A story of friendship, loss, a little mystery and deep faith. As Johnny said, "I am a Christian because of Owen Meany." Owen touched many people in his young, all too brief life. The characters and especially Owen Meany, will stay with me for a long time.

I couldn't put this book down! One of the best books I have read in a long time. While the premise behind the story may seem farfetched, Niffenegger's character development and writing will have you saying, "Why not?" I cannot wait to read her next book.
