THE Pleafure of our lad Converfation has made the Time feem long ere the next returned. I muft ftill expect to be indulged the Liberty (though tirefome) of continuing the Enquiries I have begun, in relation to the reft of the Conftellations which I fee fyread over the Surface of the Globe. Dot, pray, which of them will it be proper to begin withal ? Clean. Thofe of the Northern Hemifphere, or on die North Side of the Ecliptic ; and then proceed to thofe on the Southern Side. Thefe will give us Occafion to- rehearfe moft of the pleafant Stories of the Poets and Fabulifts, in relation to their fictitious Original, and this is all we muft here expect Eupbrof. And which of thefe do you hold it proper to begin with ? Clean. With the two Bears, viz. Urfa Major and1 Urfa Minor, as being the moft northerly. The Greater of thefe was called Arflos and Helta by the Greeks; and the Lefler, Cynofura, becaufe its Tail was like that of x Dog. The Greater of thefe Bears, was once the fait Califto, Daughter of Lycaon, who being deflowered by Jupiter, was, by the Rage of Juno, turned into a Bear -r and her Son Areas into the LeJ/er Bear; but the Difgrace vas taken away by Jupiter's advancing them to Heaven, and making them two fuch remarkable Conftellations..
