When Roger, the wandering 15th century chapman, fell ill during his travels, two kind strangers nursed him back to health. In return, they asked for his help with a confounding mystery that challenged Roger's talent for detective work to its limits. A man had been murdered, a man hanged for his murder, when the victim turned up alive, only to be murdered a second time.

A complex, engaging historical mystery with believable characters. The characters, story and mystery are all well-written. The historical setting is made very real and integral to the story. I'll be looking forward to reading more books in this series.
