Way Station
Author: Clifford D. Simak
Clifford Simak, winner of Hugo, Nebula, Grand Master, and other science fiction awards, was never more clearly a master of modern SF than in this novel of a simple farmer who bridged the gap between humanity and the stars. This powerfully entertaining and thought-provoking work is one of the all-time great favorites of science fiction.

A story of how the humblest of humans becomes the savior of the galaxy. And of how one man finds and accepts his destiny.

Excellent, solid science fiction with great aliens and a very real protagonist, ending on a high note.

Way Station....a sci-fi classic. I get more out of it every time I read it. It's got all the elements of a truly great story, including suspense, believable fantasy, and even a touch of romance. In addition, if you're in a philosophical mood, Way Station gives plenty of food for thought as to humanity's role and place in the huge scheme of galactic endeavor. Truly a treat for these cold winter nights!
