Waiting for the Night Song was over-all an enjoyable book. I liked that it switched back and forth between past and present and the relationships within the characters. It is a mystery and did surprise me with the ending details of that. It ties themes of lasting friendship, secrets, and environmental issues, which are pertinent for today. One thing that really bugged me is the authors overuse of Cadie did, Cadie said, Cadie thought. It got so monotonous; wish I had counted how many sentences started something like that. Too many. Quite a number of sentences seemed written for younger readers and then there would be extremely descriptive, thought-provoking sentences.
