I'm willing to accept some pretty outlandish things in a work of fiction, as long as it's somewhat grounded in reality. Castle out in the middle of the deep south? Okay. Sure. Fully kitted out dungeon for some heavy sexual play? A little more outlandish, but if you've got the money to build a castle, I guess I can believe it.
A son who gives up being a Wall Street power broker to go and travel with a bunch of Mideveal re-creationists, who also are all heavily into S&m?
Then, throw in the fact that in all of this dominant and submissive culture, there isn't one female dominant. Not one. That does not ring true to me. Sure, it's a fantasy, but my inner femmi-nazi starts rearing her ugly head and screaming about females not always being submissive, and it goes downhill from there.
This book ended up getting thrown against the wall in disgust.
I was hoping for a nicely smutty story with a full figured heroine. Sadly, I didn't get what I wanted.

I enjoyed this book. Windsor manages to make you sympathetic to both main characters as they deal with conflicting emotions. While they battle over his father's estate, they also deal with a growing attraction. Gillian, who is no size 4, also struggles with body image in a believable way and Hawk's response to that ( especially in one unforgettable scene) is very hot! Good story.

Contemporary Erotic romance, featuring BDSM from Ellora's Cave. Gillian's friend and mentor has died, leaving her his land. But he left his only son the castle like home sitting on the property. Gillian wants to buy the castle. The son, Hawk wants to buy the property. Hawk and Gillian are attracted to each other, and he is a part of a world she wants to know more about. A pretty nice story. Better than another that I've read by this author.
You'll have to check your brain at the door if you read this story. It's so outlandish that you can't take it seriously. There's quite a bit of BDSM in this story, but nothing extreme or degrading. The hero and heroine both want, need and enjoy these types of activities. What they do together is consensual and safe with precautions taken to make sure she's not hurt. It's also not a 24/7 dom/sub relationship either. Outside the bedroom..er..dungeon..they are equals.
The heroine is a plus sized female professor. The hero is a former day-trader turned medieval troupe member. The plot is flimsy, but if you want a quick read with a lot of light to moderate, hot bdsm smutty scenes, this will fit the bill. This book is not for those who are used to reading light chick lit or Harlequin romance novels. The romance here couldn't be more explicit so consider yourself warned.
