I have been a fan of C.J. Box for several years now and have read everything he has written including all of the Joe Pickett and Cassie Dewell novels. I have really enjoyed most of these but was a little disappointed in the last Pickett novel, STORM WATCH, because it was filled with conservative politics and the storyline was a little below par. But with THREE-INCH TEETH, Box is back on track. In fact, I would consider this one to be one of his best!

This one starts out with a vicious attack by a rogue grizzly bear on a young man who was peacefully fly fishing and who was also Joe Pickett's daughters possible fiancé. At about the same time, one of Joe's nemeses, Dallas Cates, is released from prison with vengeance on his mind. He blames Joe along with Nate Romanowski and several others for putting him in prison and for the deaths of his family members. He has a list of people he wants to kill but doesn't want to be sent back to prison. The grizzly attacks gives him an idea and he uses the attacks as a cover to get his vengeance. Along with a weird but talented inmate, he is able to devise a method that simulates a grizzly attack. Also involved is another person seeking vengeance, Axel Soledad, who Joe and Nate thought killed in Portland as related in SHADOWS REEL. So will Joe be able to thwart the plans of Cates and Soledad?

This one was really a compelling and exciting read that I finished in two days. This was also one of the most violent of the series and full of action. The ending was especially heart-pounding and what happened will definitely have a lasting affect on Joe and Nate. The ending also left some loose ends that I hope will be resolved in the next book that I will definitely be looking forward to. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait another year for it. :(
