Angie DeSaria is a recently divorced woman who has moved back home to the bosom of her family. The divorce occurred because her inability to become pregnant drove a wedge between her and her husband.

Back home she is attempting to use her business knowledge to rebuild the family restaurant which has fallen on hard times. In doing so, she meets a teenager named Lauren Ribido, who quickly becomes an adopted member of the DeSaria clan. Angie is everything Lauren ever wanted in a friend, and she often imagines what it would be like if Angie were her mom. So when Lauren gets into trouble she turns to Angie for help...
