This is written as if the reader doesn't know anything about children or writing. In other words it starts from the point where a person just wants to write for children but doesn't even know what children act like, what they like to read or what they do for play, etc. I found that as a parent I already knew a lot of this information. The book attempts to cover a lot of ground, from what options there are for book types to how to submit a manuscript.
