The premise of this book is fun and interesting--what if you and your friends suddenly woke up with superpowers? Unfortunately, I didn't think the story lived up to that premise. The first half or so of the book where the transformation happens and the "heros" are learning how to use their powers is enjoyable. As the story moves forward from there, however, I started losing interest. The various problems encountered by the main characters, especially in their family relationships, just weren't very compelling. The book is also structured with a journalist narrator telling the "true story" after the fact, which I didn't find to be very effective. An OK book, but not great.
