I wish I had been more impressed with this book. The description sounded really intriguing, but the structure of the book was disappointing. It wasn't a novel, really...more a series of vignettes about the children of the family. There was little continuity - it was just a handful of snapshots. If you like short stories, you may like this book more than I did, as the chapters read more like short stories than a comprehensive novel.
