This was an abridged version, 4 CDs about 4 hours. I have listened to the 1st and 2nd books in this series also in the abridged version. The series premise is interesting, kind of Dark Angel-ish and the first 2 books are mostly an introduction to the characters and several chase scenes, not deep, but enjoyable. This book tries to pull the "conspiracy" together and it really is so full of holes that it's tough to go along with it. It may be a function of the abridgement, but 90% of the dialogue is Max's smart mouth, way past the point of annoying. There is a distinct Nazi parallel, but instead of highlighting the sanctity of all life and personal freedom, somehow Max gets a fractured political philosophy out of this that involves clean air and punishing those who don't agree with her. This is my last one of these.
