I have not been a Kingsbury fan in the past, but this book blew me away. It is not a sequel to Asimov's Foundation series; rather, it is a successor to it done Kingsbury's way and it is a remarkable success. Richly drawn characters, a well-paced plot, a narrative full of wit, and technically interesting details all add up to make this a fascinating read that begs to be re-read often. The Good Doctor would have been proud.
