Wow. It's been awhile since I've read a book that has met my needs and expectations on every level like this one has. It's beautifully written. The language is direct and not flowery, and I like that. I relate to the main character profoundly; I feel everything he feels, and just when I thought perhaps the author wasn't addressing the emotional element of the story, he comes in with the emotions at the end to leave the reader shocked and touched...yes, even after seeing the movie. So, as I said before, this has all the elements of a great book: the plot, the engaging characters, the writing style, and the genuine emotional element.

Fine book, I enjoyed the story within the story and the twist at the end. If you like Planet of the Apes, this is the book that started it all. And really, even tho it is sci-fi, I don't think it's a book limited by that. It covers social commentary and more.
