"Pathfinder" picks up not long after the end of "Vigilante". Since the events of the previous book took place in a system that was, as of yet, not claims by either the Terrans or the Consortium, an International Court has been assembled to try the terrorists. Unfortunately, politics raises it's ugly head, and the case soon proves to be less open-and-shut than everyone assumes.

Meanwhile the Minoans have stepped up their help in the study of the alien ruins, providing a "Rosetta Stone" for the writing, and help getting the technology up and running. They also start assembling a group to travel to an alien system.

This book was very well done. It had the perfect blend of politics, intrigue and action for me. We continue to see Ariane dealing with her past, though not always in the most healthy fashion. Her self-destructive behavior picks up in this book, though there are signs at the end that Ariane may not be able to do that much longer.

It's odd, reading the back of the book, I expected things to happens at different points in the book than they actually did. I expected much of the book to be about the alien system, when in fact, they don't travel there until the last quarter of the book. It reads like there might be more exploration there in book 4.

I highly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one.

Futuristic-Militaristic Thriller, third in the Major Ariane Kedros series. Much of the book is dealing with the repercussions of the events in Vigilante. The surviving Isolationists will go on trial for stealing and attempting to use a Temporal Distortion weopon. Major Kedros is set to testify. She also has been given the assignment of finishing the mission of another officer, who was injured. In her civilian life, she and her partner Matt Journey contract to do work for the alien Minoans. Major is Kedros is busy with these things, fighting her own personal demons, and greiving for those who have died. Is is wise to work for the Minoans, and can Ariane survive it? Especially when someone is dedicated to stopping her? This installment isn't as action-packed as the previous novels, but still worthwhile. I hope there is a follow up. Worth a credit.
