By the author of Bonjour Tristesse Sagan writes about the story of a sea journey that becomes a ten days' passage through the intricacies of the human heart. On board the S. S. Narcissus for a ten-day music cruise of the Mediterranean with twelve passengers who are to one another larger-than-life stereotypes; all surface, beauty and ego.

If you liked the satirical sendup of those well-heeled desparates living for attention, status and societal expectations of The Bonfire of the Vanities, you will love this book. I have laughed out loud on nearly every page. There are sympathic characters for which one cheers, not knowing if they will achieve the freedom, ill-gained riches or peace they and you want for them.
I plan to read other books by Sagan but have to finish this first, a wonderful 448 pages.
