And the ladies in charge were about as merciful as dragons. But Miss Keating, whose heart quickened at the mere thought of attending, managed a bit of fancy footwork and maneuvered her way in. Once there, she found herself the unwitting victim of a curious scandal. She also discovered Lord Blayde in the process, which made the whole experience well worth her disgrace.
