I couldn't agree more. Mercy Gunderson is smart, witty, vulnerable, and my new hero!

I have been a big fan of Lori Armstrong since reading her first Julie Collins book a couple of years ago so I was really excited to learn that she was writing a new series. I'll say right off the bat that this book is a gripping page-turner that will take you on one heckuva ride. I felt that the book was a little uneven and the amount of tragedy in Mercy's life borders on the unbelievable but, it's still a fun read. I will definitely be in line for the next book in the Mercy Gunderson series.
I agree with the other reviewer that this is a page-turner with an unbelievable amount of loss for the heroine. I think I will keep reading the series because Mercy is a great character, but be forewarned that this book was dark and gritty. I was grateful for the few softer aspects of Mercy's character (she does yoga!) because otherwise she's not all that likable. You'd want her on your side in a fight or a shootout though.
