love this series
This was the first of Asaro's Skolian Saga books that I read and I was replacing the copy I gave to my sister. Great story and a good intro to the whole Saga. The matriarchal society that Kelric finds himself stranded in has significant parallels to discussions of isolated Islamic women in some areas of the world today. In addition to being a really good yarn, makes you think.

Sci-fi author Catherine Asaro includes a very strong romantic component in her writing. THis is thet hird book, in the Skolian Empire saga. It was nominated for a Nebula award. The books are stand alone novels but take place in the same universe.
