Wonderfully romantic escapism novel. The Bastion Club is a group of English gentlemen returned from the wars with Napoleon who all must marry. They form the Bastion Club and buy a residence in which to meet and share info on prospective brides and which debutantes and managing future mothers-in-laws to avoid. Of course there are mysteries which lead them to meet women they most likely would never have met in Almack's Assembly Room. The struggle between strong willed men and women ensue with lots of torrid romance thrown in.

This book is superb! I'm KEEPING this one. :)

It's the first I've read by this author and I can't wait to get the next in the series. Well-written, excellent story, and well-defined characters.

I have just recently read this book after having read someof the later Bastion Club novels. I loved reading about the Bastion Club coming into existence and learning the history of some of the fellow members. A great read in my book.
