Exciting read with an unusual ending.

This book was quite exciting - and definitely turned out to be quite different than I expected it to be. On the surface, it shared many of the similarities to Steve Alten's Meg books - Atticus and Jonas Taylor both can take a lot trauma! However, Robinson's book had more of a spiritual theme that took me by surprise. I think that Laurel was probably my favorite character - though her gender switch from beginning to ending was rather unsettling... Still, this book was a fun adventure and I am looking forward to reading his other books!

For creature feature fiction, this book has a bit more plot than most, but the author's repeated attempts to infuse faith into the story come off as ham-fisted and forced. When the book compares Kronos to the story of Jonah and the fish, it nearly loses all credibility and it didn't have much of that to begin with. For an ex-Navy SEAL, Atticus, the hero, is often caught off-guard when the fight begins. There's the villain of the story, an eccentric billionaire named Trevor, and his henchmen; a love interest in the form of bland USCG officer Andrea; and, of course, a giant marine reptile nicknamed Kronos.
It's not the best book I've ever read, nor is it the worst. But when your book and its bad editing (Atticus' novel is written "Ocean's in Peril" at one point--the misplaced apostrophe should have been caught by a good editor) nearly makes Steve Alten's "Meg" look like Melville's "Moby Dick" by comparison, then maybe a few revisions are in order.

Wow! I ordered this book on a whim. Am I glad I did! This is one of those stories that just keep the reader glued to the book. I am yet again amazed at the abilities these authors have to come up with such wonderful and detailed stories! This story was not exactly what I had envisioned when I placed my order, and I was very pleasantly surprised. A bit of a surprise ending, but in a way predictable; at least to someone who is sentimental. I give it a full 5 stars and highly recommend it!!
I found this to be an exciting read.
(who cares about the editing when it comes to where the apostrophe is located? quite minor in my opinion and I didn't even notice it!)
Falling in the line of the Meg series it deals with a serpent-like creature, a mad millionaire, deadly security seaman(?), a love interest, a con man, and of course the Dad-hero.

I always enjoy Robinson's book. Once again he has come up with a original story.
I am not really a big fan of Jaws-type books, but this book is a really new approach to the genre.
When I started understanding the biblical reference I was blown away. Who would-da though ?
When Robinson wraps this story up you are left... satisfied.
