This is a good story, but I'd read it before. This is another Nora REPRINT with a different cover. Frustrating, and usually I'm pretty good at spotting these, but I missed this one. This is half of the previously released "Remember When." Big Jack's the other half, SO BE WARNED!

Wonderful characters - full of life and ample peculiarities. Smooth moving plot. One of the most fun of Roberts' stand alone books, although there is sequel due out this year. I'll be in line for it!

Laine Tavish didn't recognize the older man who came into her shop. She didn't realize he was her father's best friend, until he was dying in her arms. Not knowing why her father had sent Willy to her, Laine did not tell the police who he was. But Private Investigator Max Gannon has been following Willy and believes he gave something to Laine. Now he must discover if Laine is part of her father's jewel heist or an innocent bystander.

Nice romantic suspense story originally published in "Remember When". It was an entertaining way to pass the time. I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading the rest of the story in "Big Jack". My rating: 4 Stars.

Her dad is a con artist and she learned at his knee. But now she is trying to have the life her mother envisioned when she finally left him to give her daughter a normal life. She runs an antique shop and her life is normal until a man shows up, gives her a card when she's too busy to take care of him right away and gets hit by a car right outside. She runs out and tries to help him and realizes he's a friend of her dads she hasn't seen in years. He tries to tell her something but it makes no sense to her, then he dies. Another stranger is in town, investigating her, and makes a dinner date. He's hired by the Ins. Co. that has insured a bunch of stolen diamonds, and her dad is suspect and so is she. Very soon he's fallen for her and her for him and he's relieved as he is quite sure she is not involved. There is a third person snooping around. He is involved and he believes her dad has left the diamonds with her and is ready to kill to get them. Good story.
