Excellent book by Louis L'Amour! America's finest western novelist.
Good book!
Rafter Crossing was a town building for an explosion when Mike Shevlin rode in. The cattlemen swore they'd close down the mines because they were poisoning the range water. The miners were stealing the high grade ore that rightfully belonged to Lain Tennison. Laine hired Mike Shevlin to get her ore back. He had an old debt he want to pay back...with LEAD, not gold!
Shevlin hired on to help Laine Tennison get back the gold the high graders were stealing from her. But he had a debt he wanted to pay also, a debt to be paid in lead, not gold. An old much read book but very readable and attention grabbing.
