Its not very often a book piques my curiosity so much that I have a deep craving in my gut to read it. This book has been blowing up across the blogosphere, and I can assure every person reading this review: its that freaking good. Its one of those books that you open to read and then set it down four hours later, head spinning like youve spent an afternoon on the tilt-a-whirl with the biggest grin on your face. It has everything you could want: action, romance, angst, and so much more.

I have the utmost respect for an author who can literally hurl you into the story. With Jennifer L. Armentrout, you hit the ground running with Alex as she tries to evade a group of daimons within the first few pages. She also throws several characters out in quick succession, but takes the time to explain them all with such clarity, that I was never confused. Alex starts off as a brash, abrasive girl but you soon come to realize that her smart mouth and sarcastic quips are a big defense mechanism. Alex is the leader of an all-star cast, though. I fell for everyone from Caleb to Seth, and even Marcus wormed his way into my heart.

While it seems there is a romantic triangle being set up in this book for the series, I am 100% Team Aiden. The chemistry between Alex and Aiden burns across the pages so hot its a wonder my fingers didnt blister. And who doesnt love a forbidden romance? Especially one where the stakes are as high as this one.

The worst part about reading a book so far in advance from its publishing date is that it makes the wait for the sequel that much longer. Thankfully I was not left with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, but more of a hopeful looking to the future of Alex. I recommend everyone pre-order this book now. This is one read you wont be sorry you indulged in.

I'll admit that in the beginning, my only interest in this book was purely superficial; I fell in love with the cover.

Now, I know not to judge a book by its cover. The cover rarely shows how awesome, or not awesome, the story itself is.
But I gravitated to this book instantly. When I ordered it (on my kindle), I didn't have high hopes for it because the cover was so pretty. But I just HAD to give it a chance.

And boy was I ever wrong about the story not being so great!! It was phenomenal!! I rarely give a full 5 star rating. But this book has ended up on my all time favorites list!!

I've read the entire series to date, and enjoy this author a lot!!!

This is a MUST READ.

Small caveat: I'm not nearly as fond of Armentrout's other series (Lux). Something is missing from it...but most others seem to enjoy it.

Anyways, if you're looking for something different than all the books out there you've read, this is it.
I was hooked on every word, and HAD to turn every page once the story picked up.

I started off with the novella that is before this book. I was NOT enamored of it, but still had to give Half-blood a try because the story had SOMETHING going for it...the novella may have been mediocre, but the novel may be more than that. And I had been right!!!

Must read!

While this book wasn't nearly as action-packed as the short story that preceded it, I still really liked this book.

Half-Blood picks up immediately where Daimon leaves off. Alex gets picked up by the Covenant, and it is decided that she is going to train there over the summer with her former crush, Aiden, in order for her to try and catch up to where she needs to be. If she doesn't progress quickly enough, however, she'll be sentenced to a fate worse than death for her: servitude to the Pures.

But everything is not as it seems in Alex's life. Something is going to come to light that will change her life forever. Will Alex be able to cope with everything going on with her past as well as what her future holds? And will she be able to deal with training with Aiden day in and day out knowing that she has the hots for him?

This was a great beginning to the series. We get to see a bit more into the world that the author is building, and we get to see more into the character of Alex, as well as meeting some new people. The "plot-twists" were horribly predictable for me, and I guessed every single one way before it happened. But, the overall story still stood.

Seeing Alex and Aiden interact is great. I can't wait to see where Ms. Armentrout takes them. This is a great series so far, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
