Excellent Book! I was rivoted the whole time! I can't wait to read the next in the series, and plan on getting the Emporer series as well! Very well written! Sometimes it felt like you were right there with Temujin!

If you're looking for a fast paced well written historical novel, you can't beat Conn Iggulden. This novel of Genghis Khan reads quickly--you hate for it to end.

Excellent book. Very well written. The plot moves along quickly and with just the right amount of detail. Mr Iggulden does not drag out the battle scenes with lots of gore. Characters are well developed and often multidimensional. Will read more in this series.

This a fantastic read. It has all the ingredients for a page-turner along with a big heaping of historical fact blended with intriguing characters who are vividly colored and mixed into the story in just the right amounts. Not only is this great historical fiction, it's great fiction of any genre.

Held my interest throughout the book. I found it informative from an historic standpoint and felt it offered an exciting look at the every day lives of the Mongols.

Wow, wow, did I mention wow? This book was a history lesson, an action movie, and a tale of family loyalty all tied into one. I would have never read this book if it didn't come with a high recommendation from a friend. Her recommendations have all turned out to be terrific reads so I trusted her when she recommended this book.

It took me about 100 pages to get into the story. It seemed like a boy's adventure book in the beginning. However, once I was past the initial 100 pages, it was hard to put the book down. Literally, I was walking around my house, holding the book (a hard cover so this was a difficult task) trying to finish just one more page.

I can't wait to read book 2. I'm going to give my heart a while to calm itself. The battle scenes are intense but well worth the read!
