From book back: Free-lance journalist Kit Maitland has been assigned to write an article about the Van Reider mansion, located on the Hudson River several miles about New York City. A property of the church of St. Anselm's, the mansion may hold the secrets of the death of one of Kit's colleagues.
But when Kit enters the huge old house, she is confronted by a much more current death. While looking around the library, she discovers the body of a very recently murdered man.
Soon the police are on the case and to Kit's horror, she is a prime suspect. So the investigative reporter must investigate a brutal murder--and in the process, she will have to face the truth about her own past...
