A Jill Smith mystery. I loved all of this series and am sorry Dunlap no longer writes them.
Another great mystery by Susan Dunlap, featuring Berkeley California cop Jill Smith. In addition to great characters and believable plot, the familiarity of the neighborhood is a plus to those of us lucky enough to live in the Bay Area.
When Berkeley detective Jill Smith receives a call for help from her ex-husband, she's not sure she wants to get involved with his case, or with him. When he reports that his friend Anne has disappeared, Jill must sift through the clues--all of which point to his guilt--and search the town's backstreets to solve this personally painful mystery.
Independent female campus cop trying to unravel the twists and turns of a possible murder.
Part of a great series. Set in Berkeley, lots of interesting characters. Protagonist is Berkeley cop Jill Smith. In this book she is helping her ex, whose girlfriend is missing.
Second in the Jill Smith series. From the back cover: "A call from an ex-husband is never welcome. For Berkeley cop Jill Smith it wins a....prize for chutzpah. Her ex wants a favor. His "friend" and co-worker...is missing. Anne's ransacked apartment-complete with blood-sprayed walls-gives Jill the chilling feeling that her ex may be up to his arrogant neck in murder. Now Jill's out with the street people of Berkeley and the crazies of People's Park to uncover the fate of a welfare worker..."
