It was surprising to learn that a few are found in Texas because most live in the South American jungles. They are also called the Painted Leopards and are considered to have the most beautiful coat of any cat species. Ocelots are twice as large as house cats, about 25 to 35 lbs. They are meat eaters, enjoying rodents and rabbits. Although ocelots are occasionally kept as pets, the author wisely dissuades people from doing this because they are wild and need meat, not cat food.
