A solid police procedural set near Melbourne, Australia by the winner of the German Crime Fiction Critic's Prize. The bookcover quote from the New York Times Book Review says: "A terrific plot, nuanced characters and solid procedure, served up on refreshing new turf."
Inspector Challis must find a serial killer.
Good characterizations of the main characters, but I didn't care much for any of them. The whole story feels a bit contrived. Everything happens to a small circle of peopl, too many coincidences.
Otherwise, not too bad.

Satisfyingly complex mystery with a number of crimes being investigated by a team of professionals stationed in a community that's not too far from Melbourne but still has a rural feeling. Characters are well thought out and although not everyone's "story" is wrapped up at the end, it's sort of like life itself. (The title refers to an airplane Challis is restoring.)
