Books like this only serve to promote religious bigotry. As a practicing pagan, I found the book to be stupid - for instance - the author seems to think that the necronomican has some place in modern paganism and occultism? The book is much more fiction than fact. MOSTLY fiction.

"...advice from a Christian perspective about this popular but dangerous religion."

Dangerous? At least the bias is up-front and not hidden behind some pretense of understanding or education.

There are better books if the goal is understanding. This one is just religious propaganda by one faith designed to instill fear and hate of another faith. Pass.

This book is only dangerous to a person who would rely on it to give good advice. The number one thing to know about Wiccans is that a true believer will NEVER try to recruit anyone who is not interested in learning more about the religion. Tim Baker may be trying to help the young Christian but he clearly knows nothing about the beautiful and peaceful Wiccan religion.

What an awful book. Not only does it masquerade bigotry and baseless stigma as fact, it does so while claiming to take its information from solid, well-respected books written by Pagans, about Pagan religions. However, the author ignores most of the information presented in these cited works, and the rest he twists out of context so vehemently to suit his argument that he might as well quit sourcing anything other than the Bible. Half of this books is a fictional story which he wrote about how he imagines Witchcraft is practiced, and the other half is based mostly on the suppositions of this fictional account. Not to mention that he presents Satanism and Wicca as sister religions, and demonizes them both while understanding neither. This is a great book for the Christian zealot who feels threatened by other religions and wants some reassurance.

This completely took me away. The fact that this book is one sided & from a christian view is disturbing. My mom is a Christian and even she found this unnerving. Afterall she said that we are not here to judge, but to live a purposeful life. Just the forward on "how to recognize wicca" alone is hurtful. I'm a pagan and WOULD NOT SUGGEST THIS to anyone, pagan, christian or other wise. This book, should definitely be put in a different section.
