Cooking with Spirit Author:Jasmine Rose This is more than a cookbook, it is more than a labor of love...it is a prayer for humanity. When I first started writing these recipes down almost eight years ago, I had no idea they were going to turn into a cookbook. I just wanted to remember some of the ideas for incredible meals that were popping into my head. — After I had written down ab... more »out 30-40 of them, I started directing my energy into assembling them into a cookbook. At this point I decided to do something different. I chose one ingredient from each recipe and researched history, legends, festivals and how each of these foods benefits the body. I discovered halfway through a mountain of research, THAT WE ARE UNITED BY VIRTUE OF OUR TASTE BUDS! You will see as you go through Cooking with Spirit, countries from all over the world, many from ancient cultures, have produced and developed the foods you see on your table every day.
If you never make one recipe from this book it is still a wonderful source of information, and if I do say so myself, a cozy book as well as funny. I love to laugh, a fact that is obvious as you sit down with a cup of tea, to scrutinize these pages. The bottom line is this...food is a gift. We need to be celebrating at least one meal each day. We need to give thanks, share a meal and sit down to talk to each other. Good conversation and wonderful food, wrapped in love and laughter, could go a long way toward healing the wounds of this planet.
Every day we have choices. We can choose to love or we can choose to hate. Wouldn't it be terrific if we could turn weapons (words or otherwise) into hugs? Anger and hatred into love? All we need to do is take the smallest baby step toward love. Invite someone to eat a meal with you. Cook something from the cookbook that sounds delicious and fun. Why not have someone cook with you? You can learn a lot about people when you cook together.
There you have it. The basic reason for putting all these recipes and information together is to CELEBRATE!!! Celebrate yourself, celebrate your life. Open yourself to the charm of cooking with friends while wearing fuzzy slippers. Remember what it is like to open your house to guests, serve a fabulous meal and laugh so much your sides ache.
Here is my toast to humanity ~ Let us give thanks for Life and the daily pursuit of joy, peace and a good belly laugh. Let us be grateful for the abundance we all have a right to. Let us hug instead of hate and always be aware of those sitting at the table with us. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?« less
