I love these kinds of books, but as a Kindergarten teacher, to tell the truth, I haven't found a real good way to convey my love of these books to the kids. I'd say for reading on their own, Pallotta's books are at about a 3rd grade reading level, I sometimes read snatches of them to the class, but most are not interested after a while. These are good "glance-through" books, but not too good for the next step for readers, which is picking out words that they know.
