KATE WILHELM WRITES MYSTERIES WITH PLOTS CENTERED IN EUGENE, OREGON. HER LEADING CHARACTER IS A FEMALE LAWYER (BARBARA) WHO AFTER NUMEROUS TWISTS CAN BE EXPECTED TO SOLVE THE CASE. AS AN OLD MOSSBACK CONSERVATIVE, I GRIND MY TEETH ON THE GRATUITOUS
POLITICALLY CORRECT DIALOGUE THAT WILHELM USES TO MOVE THE BOOK ALONG BUT DO ENJOY THE UNDERLYING STORY
