I'm not a King fan, but this series was great! The Green Mile represents the last walk taken by condemned prisoners. Is John Coffey a vicious murder of children, or a gentle giant wrongfully accused? Set in 1932, this story of murder, mystery and miracles is told from the point of view of a prison guard.

King kept me reading by taking me through an emotional roller coaster. I wanted to get to the end to find out what cliffhanger was in store for me, but it was a little sad so I couldn't wait to get book 4.

Although the movie is faithful to the book, Book three of The Green Mile series gives more thorough explanation of John Coffey's mysterious power. It also gives an explanation of how Paul Edgecomb came to believe in Coffey's innocence. To get a full grasp of the overall story,Book three should be read in consecutive order with the rest of the books.
