Wonderful book filled with great information. My family and friends were very impressed my how much I found out after reading this book. I will never eat fast food again, though!

This book will make you think twice before grabbing a quick meal at a fast food restaurant. The author covers the terrible ways in which the animals are treated before being slaughtered, the near-impossible speeds by which the slaughter-house employees must work (causing serious injuries and even death); how fast food supports illegal immigration, the tricks used by the corporate giants to lure kids and thus their parents, and the terrible ways the employees--mostly high school teenagers--are treated, and not rewarded.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, as well as the movie "Fast Food Nation" which has an all-star cast and shows everything that this book talks about.

A great read, I found it misplaced at Third Place Books, I didn't know it was intended for young readers. I liked Fast Food Nation and this one is just as good. If you want to loose a few pounds read this, it will put you off fast food for a while, yuck!

This is basically "Fast Food Nation" designed for teen and older readers. It's a condensed version with all the major points and same feel and message as the "adult" book. If you can't get Fast Food Nation, this is a good alternative.

This is the more easily digestible (ie for younger audiences version) of Schlosser's opus, _Fast Food Nation_. If you've read FFN, there is no need to read _Chew on This_. The information is virtually identical. It is merely laid out and packaged a bit differently. That said, if you know an adolescent who might be interested in FFN, give them this book instead.

I got this for my 14-year-old nephew who is a fast rood junkie, and really doesn't like to read that much - would rather be on the computer. But he's read at least some of this and told me about it. I think he likes it.

This book is, for the most part, a parallel to the authors Fast Food Nation. There is one MAJOR difference. It is oriented towards and written for students: principally those at the secondary educational level. It is certainly readable by any student from the fifth grade on. Guaranteed that after reading this you will think twice before even setting foot in a fast food restaurant again. You will think twice about school lunch programs! You will even wonder about your favorite food markets and what you are serving to your family at home. In short, this book could be the completely non-fiction sequel to Sinclair Lewis, The Jungle, that takes it from raw material straight through to the retail level of an industry that is the most detrimental to human welfare: fast food. Having worked at many forms of the retail food industry, including the military, and having been named a Certified Food Executive I have personal insights into many facets of the industry. This book should be on the mandatory reading list for all secondary school principals, superintendents, school committee members, state legislators, and members of congress. {See also, Fast Food Nation [0-06-083858-2, 978-0-06-083858-4]} Maybe his next book will be titled Bite Me!.
