We have associated the lights, the sounds and individuals dressed in red winter coats, pants and black boots, and of course the hat with Santa Claus and Christmas traditions. Local and national chain stores carry on the myth. Many cities hold parades that emphasis the myth. While it is pure cold business and dollars to some, to others it is the desire to want to be the Santa Claus for our children and family that over stretches them, causing them to conform to this over commercialized annual event. But, there is the other Christmas! I explained the meaning of the name "Christmas" to a student. It means "Christ with us." Her response was what I have come to expect as she blurted out: "I always thought Jesus had something to do with Christmas" When students asked the question: Is Santa Claus Real, They have come to that age where the myth is no longer relevant and they want to know if there is more to Christmas than what they have learned so far.
