I will miss the Midnighters' characters. I enjoyed this clever trilogy. This final book was a page-turner with the usual unexpected developments but a plot with more at stake. I found it very hard to put down and finished it up in the wee hours. It had twists I did not see coming with a surprisingly unique ending.

With minimal character development and an almost cliche ending, this finale to the Midnighters trilogy fell far short of my expectations. It started on a high note, with the promise of exploring Rex's struggle after the events of the second book, but it never really went further than that initial confrontation. The plots and twists bordered on silly with no real action (unlike the first two books). The only character who grew was Jess's younger sister, Beth, but it wasn't quite enough to salvage the poor execution of what was a decent idea.

This book is the third in the series, and as a whole I love the whole series. I wasn't as happy with this book as the first 2 books, but it was still wonderful. I keep hoping Scott Westerfeld will write a final chapter....with a better ending!! This is one series you have a hard time putting down til they are all consumed!
