Beauty From Pain (Georgia Cates first book in this series) BLEW me away. Jack Henry had me panting & wanting more. I even liked the heroine, Laurelyn Prescott. Then, I finally got my hands on the second book... I was disappointed. I mean really disappointed. Laurelyn's character didn't seem the same to me. She wasn't the same heroine that I'd come to like and cheer from the first book. And Jack Henry? Don't get me wrong, he was great but just not as great as he was in Beauty From Pain. I felt as if the characters were too wishy washy. This one is a hard one for me to review, simply because I just loved the characters and expected more from the second book. Georgia Cates is an amazing writer and she's one of my favorites but this book didn't do it for me.
Would I still recommend it? Yes. The characters are forever etched in my heart and I'm glad they get their happily ever after. If you haven't read the series yet, please do. I even hear through the grapevine that she's coming out with a third book. I will be waiting in limbo for that one!
